Kanat Nadyrbek is an internationally acclaimed principal ballet dancer, choreographer, stage director, and Honored Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic. Born in Balykchy, Kyrgyzstan, he has built a distinguished career across Asia, Europe, Russia, South Korea, the United States, and Canada.
A former premier of the Ballet Company of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre, Kanat is recognized for his powerful technique, heroic stage presence, refined classical style, and deep dramatic expression. His repertoire includes leading roles in Swan Lake, La Bayadère, Don Quixote, Le Corsaire, The Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, Spartacus, Petrushka, Apollo, Serenade, The Little Humpbacked Horse, and One Thousand and One Nights.
Today, Kanat continues his international artistic career as a principal dancer, choreographer, and stage director, bringing exceptional experience, artistry, and leadership to every production.

Kanat Nadyrbek is an accomplished international ballet artist, principal dancer, choreographer, stage director, and Honored Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic. He was born in Balykchy, Kyrgyzstan, and received his professional ballet education at the Bishkek Choreographic School named after Ch. Bazarbaev, graduating in 2008. The Mariinsky Theatre notes that he studied in the class of Uran Sarbagishev, People’s Artist of the Kyrgyz SSR.
Kanat began his career at the Kyrgyz National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after A. Maldybaev. In interviews and Kyrgyz media materials, he described beginning his professional path at the Kyrgyz theatre, performing major roles early in his career, including Prince Siegfried in Swan Lake and Solor in La Bayadère.
After the beginning of his professional career in Kyrgyzstan, Kanat toured extensively with a Moscow-based company across Asia and Europe, appearing in approximately 40 countries. He later worked with Universal Ballet Company in Seoul, South Korea, before being invited to join the Ballet Company of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre in Vladivostok.
A significant part of Kanat’s career was built at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre, where he became one of the company’s leading male dancers. According to the Mariinsky Theatre, he joined the ballet troupe as a soloist in 2016 and was promoted to premier in January 2018. In 2019, by decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kanat Nadyrbek was awarded the title Honored Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic.
At the Mariinsky Theatre’s Primorsky Stage, Kanat performed leading roles in major classical and contemporary repertoire. Official Mariinsky playbill archives list him in productions including The Sleeping Beauty as Prince Désiré, Giselle with Renata Shakirova, Le Corsaire, A Thousand and One Nights, and other major ballet programs. He was also featured among leading soloists in the Mariinsky Theatre’s participation at the XXXIV International Classical Ballet Festival in Kazan.
His repertoire includes many of the most demanding principal roles in classical ballet: Prince Siegfried in Swan Lake, Solor in La Bayadère, Basilio and Espada in Don Quixote, Conrad and Birbanto in Le Corsaire, Prince Désiré in The Sleeping Beauty, Albrecht in Giselle, and Spartacus in Yuri Grigorovich’s Spartacus. He has also performed works associated with major choreographers including Marius Petipa, Yuri Grigorovich, George Balanchine, Roland Petit, Alexei Ratmansky, and others.
In addition to his performing career, Kanat has developed important work as a choreographer and artistic leader. In 2023, KyrTAG reported that Kanat Nadyrbek became Chief Ballet Master of the Kyrgyz Opera and Ballet Theatre named after A. Maldybaev. The report also noted his background with the Kyrgyz theatre, Universal Ballet in Seoul, and the Mariinsky Theatre’s Primorsky Stage.
Kanat has also shared his knowledge through teaching and master classes. The Rudolf Nureyev Bashkir Choreographic College reported that Honored Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic Kanat Nadyrbek conducted a master class on techniques and methods of male classical ballet turns.
Across his career, Kanat Nadyrbek has performed internationally in Asia, Europe, Russia, the United States, and Canada.
